Airport Transfers
Jamshedpur Airport Transfer: Routes, Timings and Fares
Jamshedpur has no commercial airport of its own, so almost every flight starts with a road transfer. Here is how to plan an airport taxi that gets you to the terminal calm and on time.
Which airport should you use?
Most travellers from Jamshedpur fly out of Ranchi (IXR), roughly 130 km and 3–3.5 hours away via NH33. For international connections and wider domestic choice, Kolkata (CCU) is about 280 km and 6–7 hours via NH16.
Choose Ranchi for domestic morning departures; choose Kolkata when the fare difference or schedule makes the longer drive worth it.
How early should the cab pick you up?
- Ranchi airport, domestic flight: leave 6 hours before departure.
- Kolkata airport, domestic flight: leave 9–10 hours before departure.
- Kolkata airport, international flight: leave 11–12 hours before departure.
- Add an hour for monsoon travel, night halts or a pickup outside the city.
Airport cab fares from Jamshedpur
- Jamshedpur → Ranchi: Sedan ₹3,500, SUV ₹5,000 (fixed drop).
- Jamshedpur → Kolkata: Sedan ₹7,500, SUV ₹9,500 (fixed drop).
- Toll, parking and state entry tax are charged as per actuals.
A one way taxi is the economical option when you are not returning the same day — you only pay for the drop.
Tips for a smooth transfer
- Share your flight number and terminal so the driver can track arrivals.
- Pick an SUV or MUV if you have more than three check-in bags.
- Confirm the booking at least 8 hours ahead — night pickups fill up fast.
- Keep a printed or saved copy of the fare quote for the return leg.
